The Traditions Behind Our Collection
Kiriko-Inspired Crystal Glassware — Hand-cut using diamond-wheel techniques that originated in Edo-period Japan (1834). Our pieces feature traditional geometric patterns including star (hoshi), chrysanthemum (kikka), and arrow feather (yarai), crafted from K9 crystal glass. These are Kiriko-inspired pieces, not certified Edo Kiriko from Tokyo — same techniques, accessible pricing.
Tenmoku Tea Bowls (建盏) — Crafted in Jianyang, Fujian Province, the birthplace of Tenmoku ware during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Iron-rich local clay fired above 1,300°C produces the distinctive oil-drop and hare's fur glaze patterns. No two bowls are identical.
Longquan Celadon (龙泉青瓷) — From Longquan, Zhejiang Province. The celadon tradition here was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2009. The jade-green glaze requires precise temperature control across multiple firings.
Ru Ware-Inspired Ceramics (汝窑) — Inspired by the rarest of China's Five Great Kilns. The signature "sky after rain" blue crackle glaze deepens and evolves with use — tea lovers call this process "nurturing" (养杯).
Dehua White Porcelain (德化白瓷) — From Dehua, Fujian Province, known in the West as "Blanc de Chine" since the 17th century. Prized for its warm ivory-white tone and translucent quality.
Jingdezhen Blue & White (景德镇青花) — From the "Porcelain Capital" of the world in Jiangxi Province. Hand-painted cobalt blue underglaze designs following centuries-old painting traditions.
Hammered Glass (锤纹玻璃) — Borosilicate glass with the "tsuchime" (hammer-tone) texture, created by hand-striking molten glass during forming.
